Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition to be held at Colorado School of Mines and Edgar Experimental Mine Feb. 12-14
GOLDEN, Colo., Feb. 12, 2015 – The 2015 Collegiate Mine Emergency Response Development exercise (MERD) will be held Feb. 12-14 on the Colorado School of Mines campus as well as the Edgar Experimental Mine in Idaho Springs, Colo.
Two Mine Rescue Teams from Mines will host teams from the University of British Colombia, Montana Tech of the University of Montana, and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
A MERD is a mock mine disaster where teams practice mine rescue skills in a realistic setting. It will include a field problem, technician test, first aid test, and practice on the Colorado School of Mines Mine Safety and Health Program’s mine rescue simulator.
