Colorado School of Mines partners with Textbook Brokers to manage campus bookstore
New partnership will bring expanded retail services, affordable course materials to Mines community
Colorado School of Mines has named Textbook Brokers as the new operator of its on-campus store. The bookstore will transition to a spirit and apparel-only store, with course materials offered through Textbook Brokers’ online platform.
The store, located on the first floor of the Ben H. Parker Student Center, will re-open on July 8 under the new management with a new name. Following this summer’s soft opening, a grand opening for the campus community will take place in the fall.
“We are excited to partner with a new provider to provide a diverse array of Mines products that our community is proud to wear and display,” said Dr. Braelin Pantel, vice president of student life at Colorado School of Mines. “Throughout the selection process, it was evident that Textbook Brokers is an organization that values creativity, innovation and authentic community partnerships. The campus community can expect to see new offerings and new ways to partner with the store in the near future.”
With 36 higher education partners nationwide, including Fort Lewis College and Adams State University in Colorado, Textbook Brokers is recognized for its ability to bring innovative programs and solutions to college and university campuses. The selection of Textbook Brokers will allow Mines to offer students a variety of affordable course materials, including a robust rental and inclusive access textbook program, as well as an extensive selection of used, new, digital and OER course materials.
Textbook Brokers will also offer a retail store that reflects Mines’ unique brand, including an expanded selection of logo apparel and gifts, school supplies, reference and reading materials, as well as products for alumni, friends and family. The new store will also be able to work with academic and administrative departments to order custom Mines-branded apparel.
Textbook Brokers will create and manage Mines’ online retail store, delivering a customized shopping experience that offers students, staff, faculty and alumni the choice and convenience to shop online or in-store. Mines faculty will also gain access to a streamlined textbook platform that combines advanced search capabilities with detailed information on course material formats and pricing.
“Textbook Brokers is excited to announce our partnership with Colorado School of Mines,” said Jimmy Batcheller, president of Textbook Brokers. “Our StudentFIRST initiative, together with Mines' dedication to academic excellence in engineering and applied science, presents a fantastic opportunity to enhance the Mines brand and strengthen school spirit within the community. By aligning with the esteemed standards of Colorado School of Mines, we aim to elevate the student experience and support the dynamic educational environment that this renowned university embodies.”
In preparation for the change in management, the Mines Bookstore will be temporarily closed from June 19 to July 7. For more information, please contact Lisa Goberis at lgoberis@mines.edu.
