GOLDEN, Colo., June, 4, 2013 – Colorado School of Mines announced today that Newmont Mining Corporation has bolstered its support for student scholarships, the Center for Innovation in Earth Resources Science & Engineering (CIERSE), and two of the university’s three colleges. The new commitments, totaling $1.5 million, include funding for research projects through CIERSE, establishment of the Newmont Mining Scholarship Fund, and support for the College of Earth Resource Sciences & Engineering and the College of Applied Science & Engineering.

“Newmont is one of Colorado School of Mines’ most valued corporate partners,” said Mines President M.W. “Newmont greatly values our relationship with Colorado School of Mines. By working closely with Mines and CIERSE, we can advance modern mining and position our industry to deliver sustainable value for all our stakeholders, today and in the future,” said Perry Eaton, Group Executive with Newmont’s Global Exploration Solutions Group. “Newmont is excited about the opportunity to support the development of Mines’ three new colleges and to provide some of the best and brightest among the student body with financial support.”
