GOLDEN, Colo., May 31, 2013 – Marc Rubin, a Colorado School of Mines Electrical Engineering and Computer Science graduate student, has been selected as one of 25 winners in the 2013 Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) Video and Poster Competition with his entry “Wireless Sensor Network Technology for Avalanche Monitoring.”
According to IGERT officials, this year’s competition included 124 submissions from 119 IGERT programs and 249 Ph.D. students nationally. The online video competition on www.igert.org, has received more than 16,500 “Likes” on Facebook and more than 39,000 unique visitors from more than 153 countries. Additionally, news sites such as Scientific American, Nature, Red Orbit, and Yahoo have featured the competition.
The 2013 IGERT.org Video and Poster Competition took place May 21-24, 2013. This competition is sponsored by the National Science Foundation and facilitated by IGERT.org, a project run by TERC, a non-profit located in Cambridge, Mass. The video and online competition platform was created at TERC.
