GOLDEN, Colo., April 22, 2015 – The Colorado School of Mines Office of Special Programs and Continuing Education will host the fourth International School for Materials for Energy and Sustainability July 13-20.
The weeklong school will present state-of-the-art and future perspectives for materials as they can be applied to energy generation and storage for sustainable energy technologies.
The school is organized under the leadership of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Colorado School of Mines, Resnick Sustainable Energy Institute (California Institute of Technology), Precourt Institute for Energy (Stanford University), Materials Research Society, and the European Materials Research Society. The previous session was held in Erice, Italy, in July 2014.
Topics to be explored include climate change, materials availability, conventional and sustainable technologies, solar energy conversion, thermoelectric energy conversion, solar fuels, wind energy conversion, fuel cells, water, energy storage, sustainable vehicles, and next generation manufacturing.
Leaders from all of the organizing institutions will present lectures as will other experts and educators from fields associated with sustainable technologies. Countries represented by the school’s faculty include the United States, Israel, Brazil, France and Italy.
The school will draw graduate and postdoctoral students from all over the world with a strong interest in the interrelationships between energy, resources and a sustainable society. Prospective students must apply for enrollment by May 1.
