Mines President’s Distinguished Lecture Series to feature John Coors Sept. 25

GOLDEN, Colo., Sept. 16, 2014 – The Colorado School of Mines President’s Distinguished Lecture Series will feature John Coors, CEO of CoorsTek, Inc., on Sept. 25.

Coors, a 1977 graduate of Mines, will present “Leadership: A Call to Rise” at 4 p.m. in the grand ballrooms of the Ben Parker Student Center.

Since 1998, Coors has led CoorsTek, the Golden-based company whose vision is to make the world measurably better through the high-performance, enabling properties of engineered ceramics and other advanced materials.

Prior to CoorsTek, Coors was president of Golden Photon and CEO of Golden Genesis, two solar energy technology companies. Prior to that, he held several leadership positions at the Coors Brewing Company.

He earned his BS in chemical engineering from Mines, his MS in biochemistry from the University of Texas and his PhD in engineering from the Technical University of Munich. Coors is an emeritus trustee of the Mines Board of Trustees and currently serves on the CSM Foundation Board of Governors.
