Mines President’s Distinguished Lecture Series presents Walter Isaacson

GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 14, 2015 – The Colorado School of Mines President’s Distinguished Lecture series will present Walter Isaacson, president and CEO of the Aspen Institute, on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. in Bunker Auditorium in the Green Center, 924 16th St., Golden.

The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available for Mines faculty and staff (two per Blastercard) and the public (one per person) at the front desk of the Student Center, located 1200 16th St. Student tickets (two per Blastercard) are available at the Student Activities office at 19th and Illinois.

A book signing will follow the lecture in the Green Center lobby. The Mines Bookstore will have Isaacson’s latest book, “The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution,” available for purchase on site.

Isaacson has been the chairman and CEO of CNN and the editor of Time magazine. He is the author of numerous biographies, including “Steve Jobs,” “Einstein: His Life and Universe,” and “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life.”

He is a graduate of Harvard College and of Pembroke College of Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He is chair emeritus of Teach for America, and was chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, which oversees Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and other international broadcasts of the U.S., a position he held until 2012. He is on the board of United Airlines, Tulane University and the Overseers of Harvard University. Isaacson was the 2014 National Endowment for the Humanities Jefferson Lecturer, the highest honor the federal government confers for distinguished intellectual achievement in the humanities.
