Mines welcomed students back Aug. 21 for the first day of the 2023-24 academic year. Here's what we saw around campus.

After a sleepy summer, the Mines campus was buzzing with energy on the first day of Fall 2023 semester. Students filled the shared pedestrian walkway between Alderson Hall and the CoorsTek Center for Applied Science and Engineering during one of the morning's passing periods.

Mines welcomed about 1,623 first-year and transfer students to campus this fall. For some, their very first class as Orediggers was Calculus for Scientists and Engineers, taught by Gus Grievel, teaching professor of applied mathematics and statistics.
