President’s Distinguished Lecture Series presents Bruce Grewcock, Kiewit Corporation CEO

GOLDEN, Colo., Sept. 19, 2013 – The 2013 President’s Distinguished Lecture Series features Bruce Grewcock, chairman and CEO of Kiewit Corporation and a 1976 graduate of Colorado School of Mines.

Grewcock’s presentation, “Not Everyone is Good at Math (and why that matters),” will begin at 4 p.m., Sept. 26, in the Student Center main ballroom. The lecture, which kicks off homecoming weekend, is free and open to the public.

In 1982, Grewcock went to work as a chief engineer with Kiewit, a construction and engineering services corporation, and in 2005 he became CEO.

Through a generous gift, Grewcock helped establish the Center for Underground Construction and Tunneling (UC&T) as an interdisciplinary center for subsurface engineering at Mines in 2012

The center brings together students and faculty from various departments including mining engineering, geology and geological engineering, and civil engineering. UC&T students learn how to design and construct underground infrastructures such as water, highway and subway tunnels.
