Manika Prasad, professor of petroleum engineering, was awarded Honorary Membership to the Geophysical Society of Houston for distinguished contributions to the geophysical profession.
 
The Society recognized Prasad’s impacts in rock physics and rock mechanics including:
·         Acoustic properties of heavy oils and heavy oil reservoirs
·         Contributions to the research produced by the Center for Rock Abuse Fluids Consortium
·         Seismic techniques in unconventional shale reservoirs through the OCLASSH Consortium.

The award will be presented at a Honors and Awards Banquet on May 4th in Houston.
