The Grandey Leadership by Design First-Year Honors Experience will teach first-year students leadership principles alongside ethics, communication, innovation and entrepreneurship, and research and design skills.

Mines was also recognized for its support of student veterans, innovation, undergraduate computer science program and undergraduate teaching in the annual rankings.

The traditional M Climb up Mount Zion returns this week after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are excited and proud that Mines and our hometown of Golden will be the test bed for this new technology, which will lead to new developments in how it is improved and scaled up so that the environmental and human benefits can be extended well beyond Mines, Golden, and our state," Mines President Paul C. Johnson said.

The Associate in Engineering Science degree will smooth the path for transfer from community college to a four-year degree program at Mines.

In the new role, Sam Spiegel will oversee all of Mines Online’s education programs, including adult learning, continuing professional education, academic courses and degree/certificate programs.

Mines held commencement ceremonies over three days, celebrating graduate and undergraduates students in the Spring 2021 class, as well as graduates from the Class of 2020, who returned for an in-person celebration.

Through the new collaboration, Mines academic and research faculty will gain greater access to laboratory staff, facilities, and resources, including prestigious Laboratory Directed Research & Development funding.

One year after graduating, the Class of 2020 returned to the Mines campus for an in-person commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 15.
