19 Mines faculty members awarded promotion, tenure for 2022-2023

The Colorado School of Mines Board of Trustees has awarded promotions and/or tenure to 19 Mines faculty members for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Additionally, five Mines faculty members were granted the title of University Distinguished Professor, the highest honorific title that can be conferred on a tenured full professor who does not currently hold a chaired professorship. 

New for the 2022-2023 academic year, the five-year renewable appointment is selectively granted to those who have brought great distinction to Mines through the teaching, mentoring, discovery, innovation efforts and international recognition.

The inaugural University Distinguished Professors are:

  • Thomas Albrecht-Schoenzart, Professor of Chemistry
  • Christopher Higgins, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering
  • Ryan O’Hayre, Professor of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
  • Kamini Singha, Professor of Geology & Geological Engineering
  • Ilya Tsvankin, Professor of Geophysics
