Colorado School of Mines students will set aside their studies this weekend for three days of events and activities celebrating what it means to be an engineer.

First formed in 1969, the Mines cheerleading team has become a stalwart part of upholding what it means to be an Oredigger—and encouraging their peers to show off their school pride and maintain the close camaraderie that Mines students and graduates share.

More than 300 companies and organizations were represented at the spring recruitment event, which was held over two days for the first time in Mines history.

Established in 2021, the designations from the Colorado Department of Higher Education recognize institutions of higher education for their work to end hunger and address the mental health needs of their students.

Mines students spent six weeks designing and building the ultimate fighter robots for a "Battlebots" style competition on campus.

The decorated distance runner and student researcher is the first Mines student-athlete to reach the finals for the prestigious national award. NCAA will announce the winner at its annual convention in January.

Mines students will have the opportunity to network with even more job recruiters at the virtual Fall Career Day on Sept. 21.

Mines welcomed students back to campus Monday for the first day of the 2022-23 academic year. It was also the start of the first full semester at Mines for Braelin Pantel, the university's new vice president of student life.
